Is this person or company sanctioned?
Type a name. We check it against the sanctions lists of the US, EU, UK, UN, Switzerland, Japan, Australia and Canada, and tell you in plain words what we found. Free, no account, and the name never leaves your device.

How it works
- Type a name the way you would write it normally. Spelling does not have to be perfect.
- We compare it with every person, company, ship and organisation on the eight government lists, which are refreshed every night.
- You get a plain answer. If something looks similar we show who it is, which governments list it, and a link to the full record.
Questions people ask
What does "possible match" mean?
The name on the list looks like the name you typed. It does not mean it is the same person or company. Many people share names, so always compare dates of birth, country and other details on the full record before deciding anything.
Is "no match found" an all-clear?
No. It means nothing on the lists looks like that name. A different spelling, a new company name, or a company owned by a sanctioned person can all slip past a name check. For anything that matters, confirm with the official government list or a lawyer.
Which lists do you check?
The United States (OFAC, plus the Commerce and State Department lists), the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United Nations Security Council, Switzerland, Japan, Australia and Canada. See the coverage page for exactly what was loaded and when.
Is what I type kept or sent anywhere?
No. The lists are downloaded into your browser and the matching happens on your device. We never see the names you check.
Why would two lists disagree?
Governments decide separately. Someone sanctioned by the US may not be sanctioned by the EU, or the other way round. We show you every government that lists a name so you can see where they agree.
